Un-threaded Zuckerberg tries new trick with declining app

Published

Mark Zuckerberg’s Threads is introducing new features, such as the ability for users to revisit posts they’ve liked, in an effort to counter a significant decline in user interest since the platform’s high-profile launch in July.

This week, Threads users gain the ability to review their liked posts by accessing the “Your likes” subsection within the settings tab.

This feature was initially tested among Android users before a broader release. Similar functionality exists on Instagram and Elon Musk’s X, previously Twitter, where user profile pages have a “likes” tab allowing users to review favored content.

Threads has lost over half of its initial 100 million users since its debut on July 5. Zuckerberg, amidst his public rivalry with Musk, shared that Threads had “a good week” and expressed anticipation for upcoming features, including a search function and a web version.

Last month, Threads addressed user requests by introducing a chronological newsfeed option, enabling users to organize posts based on recency or the algorithm-driven “For You” feed.

Although Threads has lost users, Zuckerberg remains committed to its growth.
