Everything you need to know about your interview on Ticker News – from booking and tech setup to what happens on the day.

Booking and scheduling

How do I book a time?

Please book through the Ticker Guest Portal (password: ticker247).

Is my booking confirmed once I submit the form?

Yes. A licence is purchased as part of the booking process, so once your purchase is received your interview is confirmed and we’ll send you a confirmation email. Ticker News may occasionally need to reschedule due to breaking news, but your interview and licence carry over to the new time.

How long is the interview?

Ticker News interviews are approximately six minutes long.

Who will interview me?

Our host Ahron Young will greet you on the day.

Can I reschedule?

Yes, simply cancel or decline the calendar invite, then rebook via the Guest Portal (password: ticker247). Once you cancel or decline, an email will be sent to you to confirm.

Do I need to purchase a clip licence to appear?

Yes. A clip licence is required to confirm your booking. You choose and purchase your package as part of the booking process, and your interview is scheduled for live broadcast once your licence is confirmed.



Preparing for your interview (remote)

What software do I need to join?

We don’t use Teams, Meets or Zoom. We use a browser-based platform called vMixCall.

When will I get the login link?

You’ll receive a secure login code five minutes before your scheduled time, so you don’t accidentally join during another guest’s interview.

Tech checklist

  • Quiet, private space with notifications silenced.
  • Camera at eye level, well-lit face, minimal headroom.
  • Good front lighting; avoid strong backlight.
  • Stable internet connection (wired preferred).
  • Make sure any videoconferencing software is closed (Meets, Teams, Zoom).
  • Use a desktop or laptop with Chrome or Edge browser.

How do I join?

At your start time, click the link in our email, allow camera/mic access, enter your name and the code in the email, and wait for our producer to welcome you.



Preparing for your interview (in-studio)

Where is the studio?

Ticker Studios, Level 1, 91 William Street, Melbourne VIC 3000.

Arrival time

Please arrive 10 minutes early. Our team will meet you at reception.

What should I wear?

Solid colours work best. Avoid busy patterns or fine stripes.



On the day

Is the interview live?

No, we pre-record all of our interviews to make sure they run smoothly and there are no legal issues. We record the interviews as live to avoid any editing, so we can get the content on air and to you ASAP.

What happens during the interview?

You’ll have a short discussion led by the host – a quick intro and a few questions. Maintain eye contact with the camera when speaking. The host is listening to your answers and will follow up with any questions.

Remember, it’s an insightful conversation, not an interrogation, so enjoy it! Our hosts want to make you look good.

Can I read off notes?

We strongly recommend you don’t. Firstly, it breaks eye contact with the viewer, and it is very obvious to people that you are reading. Ticker interviews are authentic so the viewer enjoys the experience too. Our hosts will help you to remain calm and keep the interview relaxed.

Can I show videos or images?

Please check with our producer ahead of time; we can advise on what’s possible.



After your interview

When will it air?

After recording, your interview is scheduled for broadcast on Ticker News. You’ll receive an email confirming timing.

How often will it air?

All interviews are broadcast on the Ticker News channel. Your interview may include extended replay, articles or additional distribution depending on the package you choose.

Will I receive a copy of the interview?

Yes. Because your licence is confirmed when you book, your professionally produced, broadcast-quality MP4 is sent to you with full usage rights. With a Standard licence, your downloadable copy is sent very shortly after your interview airs.

If you’ve chosen the Share + feature or Feature + amplify package, we build the additional assets included in your package — these are usually delivered by the end of the business day.



Licensing and using your clip

What can I do with a licensed clip?

You can share your interview on LinkedIn, websites, social media, presentations, events and internal communications, showcasing your appearance on television with full usage rights.

Can I screen record or reuse the broadcast?

No. Screen recording or republishing broadcast footage breaches our copyright policy and compromises video quality. Your licensed MP4 is professionally mastered and cleared for reuse.

Cancellations and rescheduling

How do I cancel or change my time?

You can decline or delete the calendar invite at any time, and your booking will be automatically removed from our schedule. If you wish to reschedule, simply rebook via the Ticker Guest Portal (password: ticker247).

You don’t need to notify us separately. Once you cancel or reschedule through the calendar, our team is automatically updated.

Can Ticker cancel my booking?

Yes. Ticker News may need to reschedule interviews due to breaking news, presenter availability or other editorial priorities. If your interview can’t proceed as planned, we’ll reschedule it and do our best to work around your availability — your licence carries over to the new recording. You’ll be notified by email if your slot is affected.

What if Ticker cancels for technical reasons?

On rare occasions, such as technical issues or if our program runs over time, we may need to reschedule at short notice. You’ll receive an email acknowledgement and we’ll arrange a new time with you — your licence carries over to the rescheduled recording.

Photography

We do not allow people to take photographs of the production area or studio as it is a workplace and we need to protect our staff’s privacy and intellectual property. Our producers will take photos using a professional camera. In-studio guests receive professional photographs as part of their package; this isn’t possible for guests appearing remotely by webcam.
