Meta announces blue tick verification service

Meta has announced that Instagram and Facebook users will now be able to pay for a blue tick verification

Meta Verified will cost $11.99 a month on the web, or $14.99 for iPhone users.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg says the move will improve security and authenticity on the social media apps.

The company says Instagram and Facebook usernames will have to match a government supplied ID document to be granted verification.

Users will have to have a profile picture that includes their face.

You might be thinking that you’ve already seen such a move before.

Well, you’re right, as Elon Musk did the same thing with Twitter Blue in November last year.

Meta’s blue tick verification will be available to Australia and New Zealand users from this week.
