Sunday’s demonstrations motivated by concerns Poland could leave the bloc

Protests have been sparked across Poland after the country’s top court ruled that Polish law will be prioritised over E.U. law.

Protestors flocked to over 100 towns and cities on Sunday, with about 100,000 people turning out in Warsaw alone.

This comes amidst fears that Poland may exit the European Union, after the court deemed E.U. laws to be incompatible with the constitution.

Former President of the European Council attended the rally in Warsaw, calling on people to “defend a European Poland”.

Opposition politicians, activists and artists were amongst those participating in the demonstration.

E.U. leaders have condemned the Polish government saying it rejected the central value that E.U. law has primacy over national legislation in certain judicial areas.

President Donald Trump says a new trade deal with China is “done,” following intense negotiations in London.

The agreement includes China’s pledge to supply critical rare earth materials to U.S. companies, while the U.S. will drop plans to revoke Chinese student visas.

The deal still awaits final approval from President Xi Jinping, but it could mark a turning point after months of tariff tensions.
