FAIL: Missed deadline for Israel’s PM

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has missed the deadline to form a new government.

Meaning the PM’s party could be headed into opposition and the country… to its fifth election in just over two years.

He failed to put together a new governing coalition, increasing the likelihood his party could be pushed into the opposition for the first time in 12 years.

Israel’s figurehead president will now contact the 13 parties with seats in parliament to discuss the process of forming a government.

The opposition will now have the chance to form an alternative coalition government or if all else fails the country will be forced into another election.

The current PM will not be forced out immediately, but will wait until a decision is made in the coming days.
