The CEO and co-founder of TikTok’s owner ByteDance, will step down and transition to a new role by the end of the year.

The move marks the biggest shake up at the Chinese technology since its launch, almost 10 years go.

In a message on the company’s website Zhang says he ‘lacks some of the skills that make an ideal manager”

The letter also said the leadership change will take place over 6 months to ensure a smooth transition.
