China, Pakistan miss critical meeting with Afghanistan

China and Pakistan will miss a regional meeting to discuss Afghanistan

India will host the event, where seven key regional powers are set to gather to discuss the security-related challenges in the region.

Afghanistan was taken over by the Taliban in August, but there are growing concerns across the region about terrorism and radicalisation.

Pakistan is refusing to attend the meeting because of its reported disputes with India.

China says “scheduling issues”, impacted their appearance at the meeting.

Beijing says they would like to engage bilaterally on Afghanistan.
