A 48-year-old has just climbed Mount Everest for the 10th time

The Nepalese single mother, Lhakpa Sherpa was born in a cave, has had no formal education and worked as a cleaner.

She says it was a dream to climb the world’s tallest mountain for the first time. But is proud to have changed Sherpa-culture since then.

During her first few expeditions, she used to plant the Nepalese flag at the summit. This time was a little different though, she was carrying the U.S. flag.

Lhakpa Sherpa now lives in the U.S. state of Connecticut with their two daughters and has a son from a previous relationship.

She last made the trek in 2018.

He’s on track to achieve the feat given only dual-Olympic bronze medallist Matthew Temple recorded a faster time in the heats.

Simpson shaved nearly one second off his personal best time, and if he finishes in the top two in the final he’ll also be eligible to swim at the world titles in Budapest next month.
