Uyghurs in China are urging the UN to avoid falling victim to a public relations stunt

The UN’s Human Rights Chief is visiting China, where the nation’s Communist Party is accused of detaining over one million Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities.

The U.S. is calling the events a “genocide” but China strongly denies the allegations, calling them the “lie of the century”.

The UN is on a six-day tour of China, where Uyghurs are urging them for support.

In one instance, a woman in Turkey is asking the UN to push the Chinese Government for the whereabouts of her mother.

China says the UN Rights Chief’s visit will “clarify misinformation” ahead of her visit to Xinjiang.
