Iran’s attack involved ballistic missiles, but all missiles were intercepted by U.S. defence systems according to U.S. Central Command.

The missiles were reportedly aimed at a U.S. base in Jordan, according to Axios.

In response to escalating tensions and drone attacks by Iranian-aligned groups, U.S. and Saudi forces conducted strikes on multiple terrorist sites in eastern Iraq.

The Saudi Defense Ministry noted that these operations were coordinated with Centcom but emphasised the kingdom’s desire to avoid escalation while defending against aggression.

Recent actions also included reported attempts by Iranian-affiliated militias to target oil facilities in Saudi Arabia.

As fighting resumes, oil prices have surged following recent declines, influenced by geopolitical tensions between the U.S. and Iran.

Trump has previously downplayed concerns regarding the depletion of U.S. military stockpiles in the region.

The U.K. Maritime Trade Operations Centre has reported unusual activity in the Red Sea, including a tanker hearing an explosion, although details remain unclear.

Experts warn incidents in the Bab-el Mandeb Strait could further exacerbate oil disruptions already heightened by Iranian attacks.

Rising tensions ahead

The situation remains fluid, illustrating ongoing volatility in Middle Eastern geopolitics.
