Trump claims Starmer will resign as UK PM, criticising his immigration and energy policies amid leadership challenges

Donald Trump has stated that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will resign, critiquing his policies on immigration and energy. In a post on Truth Social, Trump remarked, “He failed badly on two very important subjects — IMMIGRATION AND ENERGY (OPEN NORTH SEA OIL!).”

Reports suggest Starmer is preparing to set a timetable for his departure due to diminishing support.

Multiple British news outlets indicated he reached this conclusion after discussions with Cabinet ministers and party donors.

Starmer faces pressure

A source from Downing Street mentioned Starmer was “not going to walk away.”

Business Secretary Peter Kyle noted that Starmer still retains authority despite the ongoing rumours.

Kyle described recent conversations with Starmer as calm and focused on the country’s challenges.

He affirmed that government is more than one person and pledged to support Starmer’s leadership.

However, Kyle recognised that Andy Burnham possesses qualities that could make him a strong candidate for Prime Minister.

Burnham recently secured a decisive victory in the Makerfield by-election, signalling his potential leadership ambitions.

He has given Starmer until Monday to step aside, should he wish to pursue leadership of the Labour Party.

Reports suggest a significant number of MPs are rallying behind Burnham’s potential challenge for leadership.

Yvette Cooper, the Foreign Secretary, was also reported to have urged Starmer to resign.

Some ministers might resign in the coming week as tensions within the party increase.
