Qantas named Australia’s most on-time airline

Qantas has been recognised as Australia’s most on-time airline for the eighth consecutive year, leading in punctuality.Official government data indicates that over 81 per cent of Qantas domestic and regional flights departed on time for the year ending June, marking an improvement compared to previous years.

The airline outperformed its nearest competitor by approximately 3.5 percentage points, achieving the best on-time performance in seven years.

In June, nearly 85 per cent of Qantas flights departed on time, earning the title of the world’s most on-time major airline as reported by aviation analytics firm OAG.

Qantas has placed in the top three globally for on-time performance five times in the last six months.

Markus Svensson, Qantas Domestic Chief Executive Officer, stated that timely departures are the result of teamwork across all operational areas.

“Getting more customers away on time is a team effort across every part of the operation, from engineering and operations to airports and our technology teams.

“We’ve seen consistent improvement in our on-time performance over the past few years and it’s a credit to our teams that we’re now regularly among the world’s leading airlines.”

Svensson said that an 81 per cent on-time rate is the best since 2019, positively impacting customer experiences as ratings improve.

“An 81 per cent on-time rate is the best we’ve delivered since 2019, and it’s translating directly into how customers rate their experience with us, which is also on the rise.”

He acknowledged the need to continually enhance reliability and better support customers during unforeseen circumstances.

“We know we can’t get complacent and in aviation each day brings new challenges, which is why we’re continuing work on improving our reliability and better supporting customers when things don’t go to plan.”

Qantas’ network encompasses both Qantas Domestic and QantasLink to provide a comprehensive view of punctuality for all domestic and regional customers.

QantasLink operates about 60 per cent of domestic flights, playing a crucial role in connecting regional communities.
