James Michael Tyler had died after three years of battling with prostate cancer

A much-loved actor, best known for his role as Gunther in the hit sit-com series, Friends, has died on Sunday from cancer, at just 59 years old.

James Michael Tyler was first diagnosed with an advanced form of prostate cancer in September 2018 which inspired him to become an advocate for the disease.

His manager says he “loved live music” and “if you met him once you made a friend for life”.

In his role on Friends, he played a barista at the Central Perk cafe where he had an unfulfilled crush on one of the main characters, Rachel.

He also had roles in Sabrina the Teenage Witch and other TV movies and shows.
