NATO says Turkey’s terrorism concerns are legitimate

Turkey has raised concerns over the potential of Finland and Sweden joining the NATO alliance

NATO’s Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has called these security worries legitimate.

Stoltenberg addressed these terrorism and weapons exports concerns during his visit to Finland.

The two Nordic countries applied to join NATO in May following Russia’s attack on Ukraine but have been slowed down by Turkey.

Ankara accuses Sweden and Finland of supporting Kurdish militants and other groups it perceives as terrorists.

Stoltenberg reassured that Turkey is an important ally to the security alliance due to its Black Sea location.
