Britain’s intelligence agency, MI5 has issued an alert warning an alleged Chinese agent has infiltrated the nation’s parliament

The alert says Christine Lee has “established links” for China’s Communist Party with both aspiring and current sitting members.

Lee has given multiple donations to politicians funded by foreign nationals in China and Hong Kong.

The alert follows a “significant and long-running investigation” carried out by MI5.

Home Secretary Priti Patel says it is “deeply concerning” someone has “knowingly engaged in political interference activities on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party”.

MI5 is warning all those who have been in contact with Lee to be “mindful of her affiliation” and her desire to “advance the CCP’s agenda”.

Patel also assured British residents that the timing of the alert has nothing to do with the ongoing Downing street scandal saying the investigation has been ongoing for months.
