Iranian officials have labelled Washington’s demands as “excessive and unrealistic,” rejecting messages received through intermediaries.

Qatar has also opted out of mediating, with officials citing national defence priorities rather than engaging in U.S.-Iran discussions.

With both mediation channels effectively closed, Turkey and Egypt have started seeking alternative venues for future talks.

The conflict escalated dramatically when Iranian forces shot down a U.S. F-15E fighter jet, marking the first confirmed loss of an American aircraft since hostilities began.

One crew member was rescued, while the fate of the second remains uncertain, as search operations are ongoing.

Another U.S. aircraft, an A-10 Warthog involved in the rescue, was also hit and crashed near Kuwait, but its pilot was safely retrieved.

President Trump has downplayed the incidents’ impact on diplomatic efforts, indicating that the situation remains critical.

Predictions regarding a U.S.-Iran ceasefire have deteriorated sharply, with market expectations dropping precipitously.

Recent weeks have seen escalating tensions, with Iran rejecting a proposed U.S. peace plan and instead demanding security guarantees and reparations.
