Global airlines have wrapped up their first meeting since COVID-19 brought their industry to its knees

Over 290 airlines spoke about their optimism about demand, and their concerns for governments to harmonise border rules.

The International Air Transport Association remain concerned about ongoing travel restrictions which plunged the sector into its worst ever downturn.

The Director of the Group, Willie Walsh, says “people want to fly.”

The group expects international travel to double next year, when compared with the levels seen during the pandemic.

In contrast, domestic travel is tipped to reach 93-percent of the pre-pandemic levels.
