Could Belarus cut off gas to Europe?

Tensions between Belarus and the EU are heating up yet again, with the President of Belarus threatening to cut off its gas supplies to Europe

It comes as thousands of migrants remain trapped at the border between Poland and Belarus, suffering through freezing conditions in the hope of seeking salvation.

EU officials are accusing Belarus of intentionally provoking the crisis in retaliation from previously imposed sanctions of the nation’s leader.

But the European Union is not backing down, saying a fresh package of sanctions is already in the works and it will impose them if required.

Meanwhile, the leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko says his government will respond if they are imposed.

Lukashenko says “we are heating Europe, and they are threatening us… and what if we halt natural gas supplies?”
