Apple unveils 14-inch M6 MacBook Pro with 30% faster graphics starting at $1,999 amid rising memory costs

The M6 GPU features two additional cores over its predecessor and includes Dynamic Caching along with a third-generation hardware-accelerated ray-tracing engine. Apple’s claims include improvements such as 1.3x faster rendering in Blender and quicker project builds in Xcode.
Performance boost
Independent testing will be essential to verify these performance claims for creative tasks and gaming.
Each GPU core in the M6 features Neural Accelerators and a dual 16-core Neural Engine, which works 1.9x faster than the previous model. The base model includes 16GB of unified memory and a 1TB SSD, with higher options available.

The maximum memory bandwidth is up to 170GB/s, but this is only applicable to the 24GB and 32GB configurations. The entry-level model is limited to 153GB/s.
The 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display maintains a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and peak brightness of 1,600 nits. Users can choose an optional coating to reduce reflections.
Connectivity options include updated Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, while existing features like Thunderbolt 4 ports and MagSafe 3 remain unchanged. Battery life is rated at up to 24 hours for video streaming.
The starting price of $1,999 reflects an increase from the previous model, which started at $1,699, a price adjustment that occurred earlier this year.
