Singaporeans to enjoy extra freedoms as vaccine rollout ramps up

As the COVID vaccine rollout continues in Singapore – if you’re vaccinated, you’ll now be able to enjoy more freedoms

Being fully vaccinated here in Singapore will soon allow you to participate in more community and economic activities with more freedoms on the way, once half of the population has received two vaccine doses.

That milestone is likely to be reached within weeks, with the nation on set to hit targets by the end of July.

Close to 40 percent of the population has already been fully vaccinated.

Currently, only two people can dine or drink together at restaurants and bars and that number will rise to five on Monday. At the end of the month, the limit will likely increase to eight, but only if everyone in the group is fully vaccinated.

In a further incentive to get vaccinated:

The attendance cap for some activities and events – including spectator sports and wedding ceremonies – will double to 500 – if everyone is fully vaccinated

The government hopes two-thirds of the population will be by National Day on August 9 2021.

The city-state is expected to gradually transition to a new normal, where Covid-19 is still around but can be controlled through mass vaccination.
