Police in Pakistan are charging the nation’s former prime minister under anti-terror laws

Imran Khan is facing a string of anti-terror charges for allegedly making threats towards state officials.

The cricketer-turned-politician was ousted from power in April and has since been a critic of Pakistan’s new government and army.

He is accusing the government of temporarily blocking YouTube, so people could not watch his recent political rally.

At the rally, Khan promised to sue police officers for allegedly detaining and torturing one of his close aides.

“On May 25 when police perpetrated violence against us, I was told by insiders that police acted under orders by above, which means they were under pressure by the neutrals to thrash PTI [Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf] workers.”
