Five candidates remain in the race towards becoming the UK’s next PM

The race to Downing Street is tightening, with Attorney General Suella Braverman knocked out, leaving just five Tory members remaining.

It follows Tory MPs second round of voting. The next ballot will take place on Monday.

Rishi Sunak remains in the lead with 101 votes, followed by Penny Mourdant on 83 votes and Liz Truss on 64 votes. Kemi Badenoch and Tom Tugendhat are closely behind them.

But all eyes are turning to trade minister Penny Mourdant, with polling suggesting she may win a head to head contest if she makes it through to the final two.
