Will the Tokyo olympics become a Covid-19 ‘super spreader’

A top medical organisation is now throwing its weight behind calls to cancel the Tokyo Olympics

Their reason is hospitals are already overwhelmed, as the country battles a spike in covid cases.

The Tokyo Medical Practitioners Association represents about 6,000 primary care doctors and says hospitals in the city have their hands full and have almost no spare capacity.

In a statement, they said they “request the authorities convince the International Olympic Committee that holding the Olympics is difficult.”
