Several dead after glacier collapse in Italian Alps

At least six people have been killed after being caught in an avalanche that was sparked by the collapse of a glacier in the northern Italian Alps

A glacier collapse in the Italian Alps has left several dead and many others injured, with some people suffering serious injuries.

Five helicopters and dozens of emergency workers were sent to the scene to assist with rescue efforts.

Video of the incident showed an ice mass collapsing down the slopes of Marmolada, the area’s highest mountain.

Emergency services say an avalanche of snow, ice, and rock hit the access road when there were several roped parties, some of which were swept away

It’s believed that 15 hikers were in the group at the collapse, with the final number of casualties still unknown.
