Meanwhile, the United Nations meeting on the Ukraine crisis ended in a standoff.

US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield says Russia “didn’t give the answers” anyone was hoping for.

The meeting was set up to give the Russians an opportunity to explain the amassing of troops on the border and whether it will lead to war.

The open discussion proceeded at the UN’s headquarters, despite opposition from both Beijing and Moscow.

US diplomats are urging their Russian counterparts to take a diplomatic path forward, warning an invasion will result in significant sanctions.

Russia has dismissed arguments from the U.S, accusing Washington of “whipping up tensions and provoking escalation.” 

But White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki maintains Russia is an “imminent threat”

Meanwhile, US State Department Spokesperson Ned Price says the future of Ukraine rests in the hands of just one individual.
