Cuba protests against government – U.S rallies behind nation

As thousands of protestors in Cuba line the streets to take part in anti-government demonstrations, US President Joe Biden has thrown his support behind the citizens of the troubled nation

Cuba is currently suffering from its west economic crisis in decades, as coronavirus infections continue to soar.

Demonstrators are also angry at the government’s slow Covid vaccination rollout..,. which has ultimately prevented the economy from rebooting.

Protestors have been lining the streets, chanting “freedom”, “enough” and “unite”… with one citizen saying “we are fed up with the ques and the shortages”.

Meanwhile, the President of Cuba has taken aim at the United States for the unrest during a televised speech on the weekend.

Cuba’s economic crisis has also been linked to US sanctions that were imposed by the former Trump administration.

One of Biden’s key advisors also published a Tweet in support of Cubans, saying the country is suffering “from the consequences of US sanctions imposed by the Trump administration”.
