Xometry expands into Australia, transforming manufacturing sourcing with AI-driven technology, says CEO Sanjeev Singh Sahni

In Short:
– Xometry expands into Australia, transforming manufacturing sourcing through AI and digital platforms for efficiency.
– The platform addresses manufacturing capacity challenges, supporting growth in sectors like data centres and medtech.

Australian manufacturers are facing growing pressure to source parts faster, control costs and access the right production capacity as industries from robotics to clean technology accelerate investment.

Xometry is expanding its AI powered manufacturing marketplace into Australia, with CEO Sanjeev Singh Sahni outlining how the technology could transform the way businesses source custom manufactured parts.

Traditionally, sourcing relied heavily on phone calls, emails and relationships with nearby manufacturers, with the process of finding the right supplier, securing a quote and confirming lead times often taking weeks.

Xometry provides a digital layer between businesses and manufacturers, allowing engineers to upload designs and receive pricing and lead time quotes online within minutes.

Sahni says AI is central to the platform, going beyond automated pricing to assess whether a part can be manufactured, identify suitable suppliers based on factors including location and machine capabilities, and monitor quality throughout the process.

The expansion comes as Australia sees significant investment across data centres, clean technology, physical AI, robotics and medtech, increasing demand for manufacturing capacity and specialist production capabilities.

By connecting Australian businesses with a global network of suppliers, Sahni says the platform can help companies scale faster, access the right manufacturing partners and find production options at appropriate price points.

Xometry says it has more than 85,000 customers globally and has shipped more than 165 million parts.

Its Australian expansion reflects a broader shift towards digital procurement, as a new generation of business leaders increasingly expects the same speed and convenience from B2B manufacturing.
