Will the U.S. avoid a recession?

U.S. companies saw a massive and unexpected spike in hiring for the month of June.

 
According to ADP’s National Employment Report—the private sector added 497,000 jobs last month, far exceeding economists’ expectations of just 228,000 jobs.

This comes as the world is trying to return to pre-pandemic output and continues to fight off global inflation.

While the private payroll processor’s tabulations don’t always match-up exactly with the official federal jobs report—it is often viewed as a proxy for overall hiring activity.
