Vaccine Passport for Interstate travel a possibility for Australia

Australians might one day need a vaccination passport to travel across state borders.

The nations Prime Minister “all of those arrangements will have to be put in place”.

Scott Morrison says proof of vaccination for domestic travel would require the agreement of the states and territories.

The PM says it’s individual states that are preventing free movement, due to sudden snap lockdowns.

“Those public health orders are the instrument that is used legally to prevent Australians moving from one state to another,” Mr Morrison said in an interview with Australia’s Nine Network.

It comes as the nation’s leader continues to stand firm on Australia’s international borders remaining closed due to the risk of COVID outbreaks.

The Prime Minister said the gradual opening of international borders:

“is one step at a time and a risk that Australia can manage safely”,
