US and UK join forces to strike back in cyberspace

The US and the UK are collaborating to impose consequences upon those involved in malicious cyber activities

The two countries say this will address “evolving threats with a full range of capabilities” following increasing concern over Russia-based ransomware.

The plan was established during a meeting between intelligence chiefs in the US with the Cyber command head reaffirming the commitment to disrupt and prevent emerging cyber threats.

The intelligence partnership will translate into aggressive operations online with the US strategy of “persistent engagement” meant to deter foreign adversaries from the cyber space.

The UK says that they “agree that strategic engagement in cyber-space is crucial to defending our way of life, by addressing these evolving threats with a full range of capabilities”.
