Ukraine confirms incursion into Russian territory, sparking six days of intense battles

Published

on

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has confirmed that Ukrainian forces have launched an incursion into Russian territory.

This surprise offensive targeted the western Kursk region, marking the largest such operation since the war began.

Moscow’s forces have been engaged in fierce battles for six days, as the scale of the incursion caught many by surprise. In response, Russian authorities have evacuated residents from three border regions to safeguard civilians from the escalating conflict.

The situation has prompted Belarus, a close ally of Moscow, to deploy additional troops to its border with Ukraine, accusing Kyiv of violating its airspace. Ukraine, however, maintains that the offensive aims to restore justice and apply pressure on Russia.

The Russian defence ministry claimed to have destroyed 14 Ukrainian drones and four Tochka-U ballistic missiles during the ongoing conflict. Despite occupying parts of Russian territory, Ukraine has made no formal claim to the land.

Both Kyiv and Moscow continue to deny targeting civilians, despite the war’s devastating toll, with thousands of casualties reported on both sides. #featured #trending
