Recent Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil refineries have diminished Russia’s fuel output, amplifying gasoline shortages within the country.

Ukraine argues that such refineries are legitimate military targets amid ongoing Russian assaults on its energy installations.

The U.S. national average price for diesel has surpassed $6 per gallon for the first time, according to GasBuddy.

During a recent visit to the Irish Open, Trump spoke with journalists about the situation, emphasizing that targeting Russian diesel is detrimental to the global economy.

He further asserted that the global supply chain issues are not primarily caused by the Middle East, but rather the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

According to a draft forecast, Russia has reduced its oil production predictions for this year, marking a 17-year low, and adjusted its fuel export projections for 2026 and 2027 due to the war.

Russia reduces forecasts

Trump’s comments highlight the complexities of the ongoing conflict and its widespread effects on global fuel supplies.

As the situation develops, both nations continue to engage in military operations that impact energy markets worldwide.

Staying informed on these issues remains critical as they have far-reaching implications beyond the immediate conflict zone.
