Trump threatens consequences for Gaza hostages’ non-release

Trump threatens consequences if Gaza hostages not released before inauguration; calls for action against perpetrators of violence.

US President-elect Donald Trump warned of severe consequences in the Middle East if hostages held in Gaza are not released by his inauguration on January 20, 2025.

Hamas militants captured over 250 hostages during their 2023 assault on Israel, including dual Israeli-American citizens. Current estimates suggest around half of the 101 remaining hostages are believed to be alive.

Trump made these remarks in a recent social media post, stating, “Everybody is talking about the hostages… But it’s all talk, and no action! If the hostages are not released prior to January 20, 2025, there will be ALL HELL TO PAY in the Middle East.”

He signaled that those responsible for the hostage situation would face significant repercussions. Hamas has demanded that Israel withdraw completely from Gaza as a condition for releasing the remaining hostages.

No longer a threat

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reiterated that operations against Hamas will continue until the group is no longer a threat to Israel.

In recent developments, Hamas reported that 33 hostages had been killed during the ongoing conflict, which has persisted for nearly 14 months. This statement followed Israel’s announcement that an Israeli American soldier missing since the onset of the conflict is now presumed dead.

Israel seeks to damage Iran’s Fordow facility before halting operations; Trump suggests US knows Khamenei’s location, avoids assassination.

In Short:
Israel aims to damage Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility and is seeking US assistance, despite uncertainty about American military involvement. Tensions rise as President Trump holds national security meetings, contemplating military options against Iran.

Israel plans to continue its operations against Iran until the Fordow nuclear facility is significantly damaged. The facility, located underground near Qom, is crucial for uranium enrichment.

Israel acknowledges that its own military capabilities cannot reach the depths of Fordow, but it is relying on the United States for support.

Israel’s National Security Advisor, Tzachi Hanegbi, indicated ongoing discussions with US officials but expressed uncertainty regarding US involvement in military actions.

Iran’s nuclear weapon

Many in Israel and the West suspect that Fordow is part of Iran’s nuclear weapon development, a claim that Iran denies.

President Donald Trump left the G7 summit early due to this ongoing conflict and convened a national security meeting at the White House.

The meeting, which lasted nearly two hours, included key security figures such as CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.

Reports suggest that Trump is considering the use of a “bunker buster” bomb against Fordow.
