TikTok’s brand new feature trial causes mixed opinions

Social media giant TikTok is trying to develop a new feature – but many have different opinions.

The tech company, owned by ByteDance, is testing a feature that allows users to dislike individual comments on videos.

Individual users can flag comments they find “irrelevant or inappropriate” 

TikTok users already can dislike videos to signal to the app that they aren’t interested in the content. 

TikTok has also stated that it is experimenting with sending reminders about features like comment filtering to creators who receive a high volume of negative comments.

Decisions about whether to roll out the feature in full will be made in the coming weeks, according to executives at TikTok.

Social media company Facebook has a similar feature which allows comments to be reacted to.
