The update means Tesla cars will now “detect and alert driver inattentiveness while Autopilot is engaged

The update will address issues facing Tesla’s “self-driving” autopilot feature, which critics have highlighted as ‘easy to fool.’

Although the existing system requires drivers to pay attention at all times, the new feature will detect how much attention the driver is actually paying.

Experts report the camera above the car’s rear-view mirror will start performing a similar function.
