Tennis star Andy Murray’s generous gift for Ukrainian children

One of the world’s biggest tennis stars is pledging to donate a sum of this year’s prize money to help children in Ukraine

The remainder of Andy Murray’s awarded money with help to provide medical supplies and development kits.

The three-time grand slam champion is partnering with UNICEF and says “over 7.5 million children are at risk with the escalating conflict in Ukraine”.

Murray insists that it is vital for displaced children to have access to an education and to rehabilitate damaged schools.

Murray has made just over $350,000 so far this year, with career earnings of a tick over $93m

“Over 7.5m children are at risk with the escalating conflict in Ukraine, so I’m working with @UNICEF_uk to help provide urgent medical supplies and early childhood development kits,”

Murray wrote.

Alongside the tennis star’s donation, three tennis governing bodies have promised to donate a total of $700,000 to support humanitarian relief efforts for the war in Ukraine.
