SAG Awards in full swing

The 2023 awards season is well and truly in full swing, with Hollywood’s biggest stars arriving for the 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles.

Popular TV Drama the White Lotus is up for “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series”.

Speaking to the Associated Press, Stars Michael Imperioli and F. Murray Abraham react to their SAG award nomination.

The SAGs are seen as the most reliable indication of which actors and what productions will take home an Oscar.

Missing out on a SAG nomination usually indicates a film’s Best Picture hopes are over.

The sci-fi multiverse flick “Everything, Everywhere All at Once” and dark comedy “The Banshees of Inisherin” are battling to be awards season frontrunners at the ceremony.

Each film has a leading five nominations, and are also up for best ensemble – which is the equivalent of the best picture prize at the Academy Awards.

Other films up for this accolade include Steven Spielberg’s “The Fableman’s”, Damien Chazelle’s “Babylon” and “Women Talking.”

Actors themselves are the largest voting bloc in the Academy, which why the SAG Awards are usually a strong indicator of who will be successful at the Oscars.

In the two out of the last three years, the best cast winner, being “Parasite” in 2020, and “CODA” in 2022 went on to also take home best picture.

Meanwhile, Sally Field will be honoured with the SAG lifetime achievement award tonight, saying she is proud to be an actor.
