Former U.S. Vice President Mike Pence has vowed to challenge a subpoena by the special counsel overseeing investigations into Trump’s efforts to overturn the federal election

The Department of Justice is investigating Donald Trump and his allies, as Pence argues the separation of powers shields him from testimony.

There’s been a number of occasions when members of Congress have successfully invoked the constitutional shield against criminal probes and civil lawsuits.

But it remains unclear whether this protection extends to a former vice president.

Trump spent the days before the January 6 Capitol riot aggressively pressuring Pence to reject the outcome of the election, even though Pence had no power to do so.

Pence was at the Capitol as Trump’s supporters violently stormed the building.

Rejecting the DOJ’s probe, the former vice President says we live in “unprecedented times”.

Platforms such as Instagram and TikTok were responsible for removing around 4.7 million accounts held by minors, according to the eSafety Commissioner.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the figures as encouraging, highlighting the government’s commitment to protecting children online. The new law holds social media companies accountable, with fines imposed on platforms that fail to prevent underage accounts from being created or maintained.

Despite these measures, some teenagers have reportedly bypassed the restrictions by falsifying their ages or using parental information. The debate continues over the effectiveness of these regulations and the balance between safety and online freedom.
