Stoltenberg also says NATO allies had delivered almost all their promised combat vehicles to Ukraine

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has welcomed the first phone call between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky, since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Zelensky described the phone call as “long and meaningful,”saying Xi had expressed “words of support” for the extension of a deal to export Ukrainian grain from its Black Sea ports.

Stoltenberg also says NATO allies had delivered almost all their promised combat vehicles to Ukraine, but still wants China to condemn Moscow’s involvement in the war.

“More than 98 per cent of the combat vehicles promised to Ukraine have already been delivered,” Stoltenberg said. “That means over 1,550 armoured vehicles, 230 tanks, and other equipment, including vast amounts of ammunition.”

“In total, we have trained and equipped more than nine new Ukrainian armoured brigades. This will put Ukraine in the strong position to continue to retake occupied territory,”

“This doesn’t change the fact that China has not been able to condemn Russia’s illegal war, illegal invasion of Ukraine.”
