How lucrative is the illegal global human trafficking trade?

Published

on

Human trafficking is on the rise around the world.

According to the United States Department of Justice, human trafficking is a crime that involves compelling or coercing an adult or a minor to provide labor or services, or to engage in commercial sex acts. The coercion can be subtle or overt, physical, or psychological.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security says human trafficking exists in every country, including the United States. The government agency says it happens nationwide—in cities, suburbs, and rural towns—and possibly in your own community.

Every year millions of people are exploited within and across borders. They are forced to work in deplorable conditions in factories, fields, mines on fishing boats and in private homes for little or no pay. Many adults and children are also sexually abused.

So, how lucrative is the illegal human trafficking trade?

Christie Hutcherson, a geopolitical security expert and the Founder of Women Fighting for America LLC joins Veronica Dudo to discuss. #humantrafficking #illegaltrade #unitedstates #WomenFightingforAmerica #ChristieHutcherson #stophumantrafficking
