Honeymoon tragedy as wife dies in golf buggy accident

A honeymoon in Australia’s northeast has ended in tragedy

A woman has died after an attempt to do a U-turn in a golf buggy went awfully wrong.

The newlywed husband was driving the buggy while his wife was in the passenger seat.

The Sydney couple had been married for only 10 days prior to the accident and were holidaying in Hamilton Island, Queensland.

The golf buggy i the main mode of transport in the Whitsundays, which can be unfamiliar to some tourists.

Police say the driver was not under the influence of alcohol and was not driving dangerously. They say it was a freak accident, which has ended in tragedy.

Finland slams its borders shut on Russia

Finland will officially closed its border to Russian tourists, marking the last of Moscow’s E-U neighbours to do so.

Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania also closed their borders.

The Finnish government made the decision following Vladimir Putin’s decision to call-up of 300,000 military reservists.

Queue’s at Russia’s border crossings with E-U nations were stretching for kilometres as people attempted to flee the country.

The closure of the border only applies to tourists – and Russians who are visiting family or travelling for work or study will still be granted entry.

The Finnish Foreign Minister stated that the decision was a difficult one to make, but ultimately it was in the best interest of the country.

Queen’s death certificate has been released

Queen Elizabeth II’s death certificate has been released, and reveals Her Majesty died of old age.

The document, signed by Queen’s daughter Princess Anne, says Queen Elizabeth II passed away peacefully at 3:10 p.m. on September 8.

The 96 year old was surrounded by family at Balmoral Castle in Scotland as she took her final breaths.

Now laid to rest in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, Queen Elizabeth II’s period of national mourning has concluded.

When she was alive there was a curtain of privacy around the Queen’s health, and in her death there remains some restraint.

Her cause of death is recorded as “old age”, without any further details.

Shocking rape statistics haunt Indian women

India’s Supreme Court has made a landmark ruling that rape includes marital rape, and extended abortion rights to 24 weeks.

This essentially means that all women, regardless of their marital status, have the right to an abortion up until 24 weeks.

Previous data shows nearly one-third of married women in India aged 15 to 49 had experienced some form of sexual violence from their husbands.

This figure is likely to be much higher in reality but many women were reluctant to disclose such experiences because of a lack of legal rights protecting them.

The new ruling could help change that.

This is a big step forward for the country, where many women and girls are exposed to sexual assault.
