Biden condemns white supremacists following mass shooting in Buffalo

U.S. President Joe Biden has mourned the death of 10 Black individuals who were shot and killed during a mass shooting in Buffalo, New York

Biden used an address to condemn white supremacists, while also taking aim at the media, the internet and politics for spreading racist conspiracy theories.

The President labelled the attack as domestic terrorism, which follows police saying the suspect carried out an act of “racially motivated violent extremism”.

18-year-old Peyton Gendron is the accused.

Authorities allege Gendron killed 10 people and injured three more at the Tops Friendly Market in Buffalo on Saturday.

He has been charged with first-degree murder and taken into custody without bail, pleading not guilty.

A number of high-ranking U.S. officials have responded to the attack, saying violence from so-called white supremacists is ‘one of the biggest terrorism threats’ the country is facing.

Stopping at a memorial with his wife, Jill and a number of other New York political leaders, Biden said white supremacy a ‘poison’.
