Avatar hits $2bn in box office sales

Avatar: The Way of Water is only the sixth film to reach this milestone

James Cameron is in the history books once again.

His latest film, “Avatar: The Way of Water”, taking in over $2 billion at the box office.

The movie has been number one on the charts for six weeks in a row after its initial release back in December.

It’s the sequel to Cameron’s 2009 epic“Avatar,”which had similar success and continues to be one the of biggest-selling films of all time.

Only a few other movies have ever made it into the $2 billion club.

They include Cameron’s“Titanic”, alongside “Star Wars – The Force Awakens,”Avengers: Infinity War”, and “Avengers: Endgame”.

Cameron is the only director who has three movies out of the six to reach this milestone.

He is expected to release at least another three Avatar sequels.
