Technology giant Hikvision denies it is spying on Americans despite allegations appearing in Pentagon data leak

As reports of Chinese surveillance on foreign soil continue to make news headlines, technology giant Hikvision is denying it’s engaging in the practice.

This follows allegations of Chinese espionage appearing in the recent Pentagon data leak.

Hikvision is denying the products it’s sold to the U.S. government are being used for spying.

This is a process known as “white labelling”.

Hikvision has come under intense scrutiny for its ties to the Chinese state and the use of the company’s products in monitoring Uyghurs.

The U.S. initially banned Hikvision products from government supply chains, before imposing a nationwide ban, citing concerns over national security.
