Harry and Meghan’s celeb pals are backing away

Published

on

Meghan Markle, the former actress turned Duchess, has ignited speculation about the revival of her lifestyle blog, The Tig, potentially positioning herself as a competitor to Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop.

Having made the controversial choice to step away from her senior royal duties alongside Prince Harry in 2020 and subsequently relocating to California for financial independence, Meghan now appears to be circling back to her pre-royal roots.

In recent weeks, rumors have swirled regarding Meghan’s intentions to resurrect The Tig, following her filing of a Notice of Allowance document with the US Patent and Trademark Office. This development comes after Meghan had applied to trademark her former blog in November 2022. The Tig was known for its content, which covered a range of topics from favorite dining spots to lifestyle advice, bearing a resemblance to Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop.

Meghan’s former friend, Lizzie Cundy suggests that Meghan’s motivation might be fueled by a desire to regain popularity. “Meghan has probably thought ‘I’m never going to make it back in the UK’ and she’s having to re-invent herself to be liked and get some popularity back.

She’s slowly losing her A-list friends, from the Beckhams to Oprah Winfrey, they’re all dropping like flies around her.”

“The new Gwyneth”

Cundy opined that Meghan might be positioning herself as the new Gwyneth Paltrow by engaging with the Montecito Mafia wellness group, known for their aspiration to emulate Paltrow. However, the jury remains out on whether this reinvention can succeed, given Meghan’s declining popularity.

The term “Montecito Mafia” is not affiliated with any criminal organization but rather denotes Meghan and Harry’s inner circle, including affluent and influential neighbors in their community. These individuals are known for their close-knit relationships and considerable power.

As speculation mounts about Meghan’s potential career shift, it appears that some A-listers, including Victoria and David Beckham, have distanced themselves from the Sussexes. This distancing allegedly stems from an incident where Meghan accused the Beckhams of leaking stories to the media, souring their relationship.

With the unfolding developments surrounding Meghan’s career pivot, it remains to be seen whether she can successfully rebrand herself in the eyes of the public and regain the popularity she once enjoyed.

Morgan McSweeney resigned amid scrutiny of Peter Mandelson’s US ambassadorship; Keir Starmer claims he was misled about Epstein ties.

U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s chief of staff, Morgan McSweeney, has resigned amid scrutiny over Peter Mandelson’s appointment as U.K. ambassador to the U.S. McSweeney accepted responsibility for the controversial decision, calling stepping aside the honourable choice.

Lawmakers raised questions about Mandelson’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein. The Epstein files indicate Mandelson maintained contact with Epstein even after his 2008 conviction, intensifying the controversy surrounding his diplomatic appointment.

Starmer confirmed that Mandelson misled him about the extent of their friendship and pledged to release documents confirming the details. The resignation signals a significant shake-up in Starmer’s team and ongoing political fallout.

Japan election delivers commanding win for ruling LDP

Japan’s ruling party expected to strengthen majority in Lower House election despite heavy snowfall, says local forecasts.

Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party is projected to tighten its grip on power following a decisive Lower House election, according to local media forecasts. Early projections suggest the LDP will secure between 274 and 328 seats in the 465-seat chamber, significantly strengthening its parliamentary position.

Together with coalition partner the Japan Innovation Party, the governing bloc is expected to cross the 300-seat mark, with some estimates putting the total as high as 366 seats. Voter turnout remained resilient despite heavy snow across parts of the country, as citizens braved severe weather to cast their ballots.

The election was called by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in January, a move widely viewed as a strategic gamble to capitalise on her strong public approval ratings. The result appears to reinforce her mandate and consolidate political stability in Japan’s national leadership.
