Schumacher family taking legal action over A.I. ‘interview’

The German publication made out that it had an exclusive interview with the Formula 1 star, but it was A.I. generated

The family of Michael Schumacher is preparing to take legal action, against a German tabloid magazine, for publishing an AI-generated “interview” with the star.

Die Aktuelle ran a front cover spread earlier this week promising an exclusive interview with Schumacher.

They promoted it as “the first interview” since the Formula 1 star suffered a serious brain injury during a skiing accident in 2013.

The Ferrari great has not been seen in public since.

“No meager, nebulous half-sentences from friends,” reads the translated text on the magazine cover. “But answers from him! By Michael Schumacher, 54!”

The magazine admitted that they had used Character.ai, an A.I. chatbot, to create the fake interview at the end of the article.

“We live together at home. We do therapy. We do everything we can to make Michael better and to make sure he’s comfortable, and to simply make him feel our family, our bond,” Corinna Schumacher said in a 2021 Netflix documentary.

“We’re trying to carry on as a family, the way Michael liked it and still does. And we are getting on with our lives.

“‘Private is private’, as he always said. It’s very important to me that he can continue to enjoy his private life as much as possible. Michael always protected us, and now we are protecting Michael.”

While X still boasts 550 million monthly active users globally, Threads’ focus on user experience and avoidance of real-time and political content could position it as a formidable competitor moving forward.
