Louvre Museum blocked as pension reform protests continue

The famous structure wasn’t able to have tourists enter due to employees protesting in front of it

Strikes across Paris have continued for a tenth-straight day, as people protest the nation’s pension reforms.

Employees at the famous Louvre Museum blocked the entrance to the glassed pyramid structure, not allowing tourists to enter, as they joined in on the action.

Elsewhere in the capital, Black-clad groups set fire to garbage cans and threw projectiles at police.

The government rejected unions’ demand to suspend and rethink the pension bill, which raises retirement age by two years to 64.

This infuriated labour leaders, who say the government must find a way out of the crisis.

Public frustration over the issue has now evolved into broader anti-Macron sentiment, as there was less violence last week, and rallies were otherwise largely peaceful.
