British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has struck a new deal on post-Brexit trade rules

Sunak unveiled a deal with the E.U. on post-Brexit trading arrangements in Northern Ireland.

He says the deal “permanently removes any sense of a border in the Irish Sea”.

The protocol creates a customs border of sorts between mainland U.K. and Northern Ireland.

This means the trade of goods comes under U.K. regulations, but other E.U. laws can still apply.

Although the E.U. has approved the changes, the U.K. and Irish governments are yet to vote on it.

Sunak says the “Windsor Framework” is marking a “new chapter” on relations with Brussels.
