North Korea has carried out three major weapons tests this year

North Korea has fired two ballistic missiles off its east coast.

Japan’s Coast Guard says North Korea launched three projectiles in total, with all three landing outside of the nation’s exclusive economic zone.

Two have been already identified as being ballistic missiles while the third is yet to be confirmed.

The launch comes just two days after North Korea fired an intercontinental ballistic missile into the sea off Japan’s west coast, in what it called a “sudden launching drill”.

This missile flew 989 kilometres for almost 67 minutes to an altitude of 5,768.5 kilometres, according to a KCNA report.

The latest missile launch is North Korea’s third major weapons test this year.

Washington and Seoul are expected to hold nuclear tabletop drills this week at the Pentagon. #trending #featured
