Motive behind Monterey Park shooting remains unknown

Police identify four victims killed in the Monterey Park shooting

Four of the 11 people killed by a gunman as they took a ballroom dance class in Monterey Park, California have been identified.

The victims were men and women aged in their 50s, 60s and 70s.

With the death toll now rising again, this attack becomes one of the deadliest mass shootings in California’s recent history.

Huu Can Tran is the only suspect in the attack which targeted the predominantly Asian American city as people celebrated the Lunar New Year.

The 72-year-old died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after armed officers surrounded his vehicle.

Police say the attacker’s motive remains unknown.
